Jump Rope

Why you should be jumping rope to get ripped

It’s time to do some cardio, but like most sane and rational people, you don’t enjoy jogging on a treadmill or sitting on an exercise bike for an hour. So what can you possibly do that will be as good, if not better, than those traditional methods of cardio once held to be the only way to do cardio?

For about $10 you can make one of the greatest investments in your workout repertoire by purchasing a jump rope. By far jump rope is more than just another way to do cardio. Jumping rope is an extreme way of doing cardio. It’s extreme because it’s not easy to do, plus, if you do it right, you’ll be able to do a lot of powerful cardio in a very short amount of time.

You’re a busy person, so you value being able to complete your cardio workout in 30 minutes or less. Also, because you actually care about improving your athletic ability and your looks, you decide to get a jump rope and see what the hype is all about.

Jumping rope can be a tremendously effective workout for fat loss, weight loss, cardio, and getting ripped. It also helps guys who are spending too much time in the gym focusing solely on weights and getting big by forcing them to do something that requires speed, coordination, and agility.

Top reasons to jump rope

1. You don’t need a gym to jump rope.  Just go find a flat surface.

2. Jump rope is cheap.  A good jump rope costs $10 and will last for years.

3. Jumping rope is not easy, but the rewards are many.  The benefits are increased cardio response, agility, athletic ability, endurance, and coordination, as well as reducing the time it takes you to work out.

4. Jumping rope is a total body workout.

My jump rope workout

When you jump rope, a great way to do it effectively for cardio and defining all the small muscles in your body (which helps you look super ripped) is to jump rope as fast as you can for 2 minutes. Then rest for 2 minutes. Do this 5 times. This means that you will have jumped rope as hard and fast as you can for a total of 10 minutes. I have found this to be the best way to jump rope, maximizing intensity and using your time efficiently.

Another way to jump rope is to put on some music like techno, dance music, or anything 120 beats per minute or higher, and match the beat with your jump rope. I used to jump rope to Tiesto, and some of his songs are 8 minutes long and a tempo of about 130-140 beats per minute. This is tough, but a great way to build your endurance and get ripped!

Go get a jump rope and add this style of training to your regimen. You’ll be glad you did!
