You go to the gym and work out hard in hopes of getting major muscle gains, so you decide in it’s in your best interest to always follow your workout with a protein shake. There’s a lot of options out there to choose from. Do you buy a Muscle milk at the store or go to Jamba Juice and ask for 3 extra scoops of whey protein in your 32 ounce Carribean Pirate Delight? While these first appear to be great options, I recommend making your own highly nutritious post-workout shake.
When you make your post-workout protein shake, don’t just mix protein powder with the water or milk and ice and stop there. Add a fresh banana, some fresh berries, and some kale or collard greens. It may sound strange at first but when you put greens in smoothies, you barely taste them. It actually tastes good, which is why you should try it for yourself.
By adding fresh fruits and vegetables to your protein shakes, you are giving your body the best vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants that you possibly can, from a fresh and living source, not a pill or capsule in a bottle. I personally advocate vitamin supplements as well, but adding extra fruit and green vegetables in your diet is going to make a world of a difference in your vitality and energy. Did you know that smokers which regularly ate collard greens long outlived smokers who did not?
There’s no better way to get the vitamins and minerals that your body’s cells and organs need. When your entire body is healthy from A to Z, your body will increase in the muscle gains department much more rapidly.
